Humptulips

Humptulips

This 70-acre project is located in the Humptulips watershed in the western foothills of the Olympic Mountains, and is comprised of 60-year-old stands. The Olympic Forest Collaborative has completed the layout, written the prescription, marked the trees for sale, and done the pre-treatment monitoring.

The Humptulips project has not yet been harvested. The treatment prescribed for the Humptulips project area is a variable density thinning, generally from below, to achieve spatial patterns, density, and species compositions that will move the units on a trajectory towards old-growth structure and functions.

Once harvested, the  project will generate revenue that will be directly applied to aquatic restoration and other stewardship work in Olympic National Forest.
