H to Z Monitoring Completed
With funding from the Olympic Peninsula Resource Advisory Council (RAC), we have completed monitoring of the H to Z project. The 5 year remeasure was completed by our field consultants, Resilient Forestry.
This helps the Collaborative evaluate the prescriptions’ effectiveness in 1) creating desired harvest outcomes, and 2) accelerating the development of late successional conditions in the forest stands.
Two Grants Submitted for Capacity
The Collaborative has applied for two grants to supplement the DNR Building Forest Partnerships funding that supports the OFC Coordinator role. Those include a grant to the Catalyst Foundation through their Network for Landscape Conservation Grant program, as well as a grant to the National Forest Foundation through their Collaborative Capacity Program.
Statewide Drought Declared
On April 16, 2024, the Washington State Department of Ecology declared a Statewide drought due to low snowpack and warm and dry forecast. There are some limited exceptions for Puget Sound metro areas with healthy water storage.
