Forest Health Monitoring

QTS_Paul F

The Olympic Forest Collaborative prioritizes crucial forest health monitoring for all of our projects on the Olympic National Forest. The Collaborative supports pre- and post-treatment monitoring using drone imagery and Lidar analysis to help understand the impacts of restoration thinning and identify the long term vision for healthy forests on the Olympic Peninsula.

Led by our consulting foresters, Resilient Forestry, our shared goals are to:

  1. Quantify the outcomes of forest management actions.
  2. Track how well forest conditions are approaching desired forest health, as designated by our consulting foresters and ecologists.
  3. Supply the Collaborative and the Olympic National Forest with data that characterizes how each forest stand responds to thinning treatment.
